To further strengthen its chocolate business, Bühler Group, Uzwil has signed a contract to acquire the German-based Hosokawa Bepex GmbH. Hosokawa Bepex is part of the Japanese Hosokawa Micron Group, Hirakata, with headquarters in Leingarten near Stuttgart, Germany, and an additional production site in Hamburg. With around 140 employees, the company is a global plant supplier for making confectionery and bakery products. SG

Nestlé and R&R, a leading European ice cream company based in the UK, are in advanced discussions to set up a new joint venture covering ice cream based mainly in Europe and Africa. SG

Cailler, part of the Nestlé portfolio of brands, is entering the super-premium chocolate market with its almost 200 year old Swiss chocolate brand. With Amazon as its primary retailer, Nestlé will now sell Cailler chocolate in the United States, United Kingdom and Germany with China distribution beginning in mid-November. Cailler also will be sold through travel retail outlets in major airports in Geneva, Zurich, Dubai and Singapore, as well as at the Maison Cailler Flagship in Broc, Switzerland. SG
