Cémoi and Sweet Products family groups enter into exclusive negotiations

The Cémoi Group, number one French chocolate company, and the Belgian family group Sweet Products, owner of Baronie Group and Belgian Ice Cream Group, enter an exclusive negotiation process.
Sweet Products intents to acquire Cémoi with the objective of creating a major player in both chocolate and confectionary markets in Europe.

The companies write in a joint press statement: "In a few months, subject to legal consultations and the approval of the competition authorities in the countries where this procedure is required, this project would lead to the creation of the number one1 global private label chocolate group with significant positions in national brands."

The new group would represent a total turnover more than € 1.2 bn, and more than 5,000 employees, making it possible to envisage the future with confidence and to ensure the growth and sustainability of both Cémoi and Sweet Products.

The group could benefit from the expertise of the entire cocoa supply-chain, from cocoa trees to finished products, manufacturing in 24 production sites located in Europe, US, UK, and Ivory Coast, enabling to reach consumers worldwide. It would be able to benefit from a strong potential for international expansion through the reciprocal improvement of their product portfolios, expertise in commercial activities and the claims of Belgian, French, and Swiss chocolates within a single group.
