Strong price increase for confectionery in Russia

Representatives of several confectionery enterprises have announced price increases for their finished products in connection with the strong increase in prices for raw materials and packaging.

 

According to the RosBusinessConsulting agency, almost all suppliers have increased prices for raw materials, some drastically. Flour, butter, eggs and sugar would become more expensive up to 120%, jams would increase by 50%, cocoa powder between 30 and 40%.

According to Rosstat, prices for confectionery in the retail sector rose by up to 8.5% from March 2020 to March 2021. The highest increases were recorded in the product groups with the main raw materials flour, vegetable oil and sugar: marshmallows, pastilles, biscuits and gingerbread.
