Dr Oetker to acquire Wilton Brands

Dr. August Oetker is acquiring the company Wilton Brands, a leading U.S. manufacturer of baking ingredients and equipment as well as decorations, from an affiliate of TowerBrook Capital Partners.
TowerBrook-managed funds bought the company in 2009. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Wilton will continue to be based in Naperville and be run by CEO Sue Buchta, a statement announcing the deal said. There are no plans to change Wilton’s number of Chicago-area employees, a spokeswoman said. “The acquisition of Wilton means the expansion of our position in the large and interesting U.S. market for baking and decorating,” Albert Christmann, Chairman of the Board at Dr. August Oetker, said in the statement.
