Intersnack Group to acquire Tyrrells‘ international portfolio

The Intersnack Group has announced that it has reached an agreement for its British subsidiary KP Snacks to acquire Tyrrells, Inc. and its global portfolio of better-for-you, premium snack brands from The Hershey Company and its subsidiaries for an undisclosed sum.

The business includes a Head Office and two manufacturing sites in the UK, along with US manufacturing capabilities, the Aroma Snacks business in Germany and Yarra Valley Snack Foods in Australia. The Hershey Co sells Tyrrells just months after acquiring the Amplify Snack Brands, owner of Tyrrells since August 2016, for USD 1.6 bn. And Tyrrells, which was founded in the UK in 2002 by William Chase, bought Aroma Snacks on May 2016 ans Yarra Valley Snack Foods in 2015.

“The Intersnack Board is delighted about this opportunity. It is an excellent strategic fit which not only strengthens our market coverage in the UK and France with Tyrrells brand, but also adds Aroma Snacks and its promising brand Lisa`s organic potato chips. And we extend our international footprint towards Australia via Yarra Valley Snacks and the local brands Thomas Chipman and Wholesome,” said Maarten Leerdam, Executive Chairman of Intersnack Group.
