French company group Biscuits Poult acquires Banketgroep
The French private-label biscuit maker Biscuits Poult SAS, toulouse, has acquired Dutch company Banketgroep, Tilburg, to strengthen its private-label biscuit business and create a dominant player in the European market.
Founded in 1883, Poult is the second largest biscuit manufacturer in France, with 20% market share. In the private label biscuit market, it holds 35% market share. It operates five production facilities employing 800 people and earns a revenue of € 180 m annually. Banketgroep is a major player in fine caramel waffle and the Brussels waffle in the European market, with 50% market share. Based in Tilburg in the Netherlands, the company has six manufacturing plants and employs 400 people. The combined entity is expected to have a turnover of over € 300 m, producing 100 000 tonnes of biscuits at eleven facilities.
Poult CEO Mehdi Berrada explained: "The merger of Poult with Banketgroep will lead to the creation of a European leader in private label. “Additional development prospects the two companies not only allow us to consider their future with confidence but also to accompany our customers in their strategy international development. I'm excited to open this new page in the history of our group.”
Banketgroep CEO Kees Krikke said: “The merger of Poult Banketgroep and accelerate the development and promote the internationalization of the company especially in the countries of Europe South.” Investment Qualium president said: “The complementarity of the two companies in their products and their installation geographical, but especially the quality of their management team were instrumental in our decision to actively support this rapprochement.”
