ISM 2016: Alfred Ritter announces a significant increase in revenues

For the sixth consecutive year chocolate manufacturer Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG from Waldenbuch, Germany has registered a significant increase in revenues. However, as in the previous year, the company is still dissatisfied with its earnings.
2015 sales revenues totalled € 470 m, signifying an increase of 9.3% in comparison to 2014 (€ 430 m). This is also the first year the company has taken the position of market leader for chocolate bars on the German market.

Despite its difficult situation in Russia, Ritter Sport’s largest export market, exports have still risen by 8%. Due to a serious price increase resulting from the exchange rate for the Rouble, the company has lost 17% in quantity in Russia but has remained stable in terms of value, according to Export Director Olaf Wilcke. At the same time, export development on the important European markets is positive. In Italy for example, sales have increased by 15% with the company’s own sales team there, which now comprises 16 persons.

In Denmark, where Ritter Sport has a distribution agreement with Katjes Fassin, the company has made great progress with an increase of 12% and has now taken the No. 2 position on the chocolate bar market. In Great Britain as well, the company’s own sales team is also generating initial success as evidenced by sales growth of 22%. This is where Ritter is looking to continue its export success story and increase the number of markets it supplies, which currently stands at 104. Export revenues have more than doubled in the last seven years to above 160 million €.
