Mars to acquire Mexican Grupo Turin
The US confectionery concern Mars, Inc. has begun the process of acquiring Mexican upmarket chocolate manufacturer Grupo Turin.
The deal is subject to approval from the Mexican Antitrust Commission and is anticipated to close early in the 2016 fiscal year, according to Mars. The acquisition of Grupo Turin, manufacturer of Conejos and Turin brands, will give the acquiring firm leverage to capture projected growth in the Mexican confectionery market, Mars reports.
In addition, Grupo Turin’s food service business will also open additional avenues for growth in that market. “When this transaction is complete, we will be proud to welcome Turin Associates to Mars. The strong cultural heritage of the two companies and our shared commitment to develop best-in-class talent, quality products and brands are great fundamentals on which to deliver value to our customers and our consumers in Mexico,” said Jean-Christophe Flatin, global president of Mars.
