Griesson - de Beukelaer grows in 2013 thanks to strong international sales

The Griesson - de Beukelaer GmbH & Co. KG (GdB) company, which is based in Polch, increased its revenues in the 2013 fiscal year by 7.3% to € 545.4 m. Volume increased by 4.2% to 159,800 tonnes. According to company‘s press release, the significant rise can be attributed on the one hand to the successful introduction of innovations like KEX or ChocOlé. On the other hand, growing international sales contributed greatly – despite the difficult economic situation in Southern Europe. The percentage of exports as part of total revenues has reached 45% in the meantime.

”Despite mixed market conditions, we were able to grow successfully both domestically and abroad,” emphasises Andreas Land, Managing Director. The business development of GdB is also reflected in the distinct rise in the number of employees. The company employed 2,360 people in 2013, compared with 2,276 the year prior. Especially at the main site in Polch, the company hired additional staff. ”We owe this growth to our highly motivated and well-trained employees,” stated Land. This is evidenced by the latest award as one of the most attractive employers in Germany. GdB ranked at spot 9 amongst more than 800 companies in the ”Top National Employers of 2014” as released by news magazine Focus, making them the unrivalled leader in the food and consumables category.

In the past year, GdB once again made investments totalling € 22 m in the expansion of production operations as well as increasing advertising and sales promotions. The management board in Polch will once again strive for growth that exceeds the industry average in 2014. Especially abroad, the company still sees opportunity for long-term success. ”Our quality, our philosophy of sustainability, and our efficiency is increasingly valued abroad,” says Land.
