Tereos Syral and the shareholders of Féculerie d’Haussimont, SPhere and Société Coopérative Agricole Féculière de Haussimont (SCAF), entered into exclusive negotiations for a majority stake (75 %) of Tereos Syral in Féculerie d’Haussimont. Féculerie d’Haussimont processes approximately 300,000 tons of potato on top of 60,000 tons of starch which are used in the food, paper and corrugated board industries as well as bio plastics.
Thanks to this acquisition, Tereos Syral, the third European starch manufacturer, would add to its portfolio of raw materials: potato comes on top of wheat, corn and cassava which are already processed in its European and Brazilian plants into starch, glucoses and their derivates. This project was already presented to the works council of Féculerie d’Haussimont who gave a favourable feedback and will soon be presented to the staff representative bodies of Tereos Syral, who will be consulted on the procedure.
