Nestlé plans to expand chocolate operations in Spain

Nestlé has revealed plans to expand its chocolate operations in Spain, by installing a production line in the north of the country. The world‘s largest food maker said it will invest €10 m at its factory in La Penilla de Cayón. By installing a production line for moulding chocolates, the company added that it will be able to produce different varieties of chocolate in Spain. The investment is expected to expand the factory‘s annual production of chocolate to 7,000 tonnes.

“This investment reflects the importance Nestlé places on continuous innovation,” said Nestlé Spain CEO and vice president Bernard Meunier. Nestlé added that it is one of eight major investments the company has made in its manufacturing operations in Europe this year. The La Penilla de Cayón factory produces chocolates and confectionery, cocoa powder, and infant formula. Nestle said it has invested € 75 m in the plant over the last five years.
