With the appointment of J.P. Bilbrey to its new position of executive vice-president and COO, The Hershey Co. is reorganizing its top-level structure in an effort to leverage domestic strengths into global confectionery growth. Bilbrey has been chosen to lead two newly developed Strategic Business Units (SBU): the Chocolate SBU and the company’s Sugar Confection SBU. President and CEO David West explains: “In this role, Bilbrey will ensure that we continue our unrelenting focus on building our competitive advantage in the U.S. while we focus on developing international markets. We will continue to make investments to build scale in key growth markets such as China and Mexico. This new structure will enable Hershey to build formulas for repeatable success in our global markets.” Bilbrey brings more than 30 years of CPG international strategy experience to the position, and will be responsible for the company's day-to-day operations including managing its supply chain worldwide and focusing on regional strengths, consumer insights and innovations.
