Mars opens chocolate factory in Dubai

US concern Mars Inc has opened a US$ 40 m chocolate factory in Dubai. The plant will manufacture Mars bars and Snickers for markets in the Gulf region. “We are delighted that consumer demand in the Middle East continues to offer good opportunities for long term growth,” explained Ahmed Bayoumi, General Manager of Mars GCC. “We are convinced that we will be able to strengthen our position as leading chocolate manufacturer in the Middle East and extend our presence in the Gulf region.” Since 1998 Mars has been operating a factory in Dubai where the Galaxy chocolate range is produced. Both facilities will dispatch confectionery to over 20 countries located in the Gulf region, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
