Bauli acquires Motta and Alemagna brands from Nestlé

The famous Italian bakery and panettone company Bauli S.p.A.has acquired the brands Motta and Alemagna, from Nestlé SA. The acquisition by Bauli marks the return of these two historic Italian brands of panettone to Italian ownership after more than a decade of ownership by Nestle. The acquisition makes Bauli the world’s leading producer of panettone, the classic Italian cake known as a seasonal holiday tradition.


In Italy, the Bauli sales force will also assume the sales of Motta and Alemagna thus assuring the presence of these historic brands in the Italian market. “We will maintain the levels of quality and authenticity for which the brands Motta, Alemagna, and of course, Bauli, have been historically known”, Michele Bauli said. “If you want authentic Italian, you want Bauli. Today our processes respect the product’s original, century old features, with the added value of greater food safety controls,” he adds. The family-owned company, founded over 80 years ago, reported revenues of € 314.8 m in business year 2007/08, built on dedication to tradition and quality.
