U.S. Confectionery Exports grow by 20%

U.S. confectionery exports grew 20% in 2008 to reach more than $ 1.2 billion, according to Global Trade Atlas. This sets an all-time high for confectionery exports. Canada and Mexico continue to be the largest trading partners for the American confectionery industry, but manufacturers also experienced strong growth in Asian and South American markets. The current value of U.S. dollar has made American manufacturers more attractive suppliers to global customers. Chocolate confectionery exports grew more than 21% in 2008 to § 739 million; non-chocolate confectionery nearly 16% to § 310 million; and gum grew 18% to $ 55 million.
