Ferrero expects production in Russia to start by 2009
After the German construction company HOCHTIEF announced they would be building a € 91 m chocolate factory for Ferrero in Russia, Ferrero s Russian subsidiary has revealed that production is expected to be up and running by the end of 2009. In the Russian media Arturo-Maria Cardelus, General Director of ZAO Ferrero Russia, is quoted as saying Russia was Ferrero s fastest growing market and that was why the new facility was being built there. "Ferrero is successful in numerous regions all over the world," said Cardelua. "But building the factory in Russia underscores our commitment to becoming firmly established here in the long term."
Ferrero has been active in eastern Europe since the early 1990s and entered the Russian market in 1995. According to the company Russia is Ferrero s fourth biggest market after Italy, Germany and France. The Ferrero group runs production facilities in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Poland, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Sri Lanka and Australia.
