Griesson - de Beukealer acqires 40 percent stake of Danone
Groupe Danone, Paris has sold ist 40% stake in German biscuits manufacturers Griesson - de Beukelaer (GdB), Polch to the management of GdB. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. According to the press release, GdB and Danone will continue its successful collaboration in Germany and Austria on the well known brands like Prinzen, TUC and Mikado. Heinz Gries and CEO Andreas Land are now exclusive owners of the GdB, one of the leading sweet and salt pastry manufacturers in Europe.
GdB was developed in 1999 by the fusion of the family-owned company Griesson and the German subsidiary of General Biscuits, the name of Danone’s biscuits business in the 1990th. With revenues of € 402 m in 2006, an annual total production of 141,000 tons, 1,800 employees and four modern factories, GdB belongs to the most important companies of the bakery industry .
