Hoffmann Neopac take over the cigarillo tin business from Staehle

The Swiss tin manufacturers Hoffmann Neopac AG, Thun, take over the cigarillo tin business from Staehle GmbH & Co. KG, Stuttgart/Germany.The acquisition makes Hoffmann the leading producer of cigarillo tins in Europe and supplier to all major European cigarillos producers. One or two trucks daily are dispatched from Thun to the various cigarillo factories in Europe, where the handy rectangular quality-printed tins are filled. Hoffmann produces more than 100 million rectangular hinged-lid tins annually for the tobacco and confectionery industries.
250 tins per minute are produced in Thun, which makes the Hoffmann plant the fastest plant worldwide to produce the rectangular hinged-lid tins. Before being formed into tins, the tinplate sheets are printed on a powerful modern 6-colour printing press. Five additional production lines for hinged-lid tins have been taken over from Staehle. The first two lines have already been transferred. The transfer of the three remaining lines will be completed by March 2007. All five lines will be equipped with new controls, upgraded to the state of the art and completed with automatic packers. The acquisition will create an addition 10 – 15 high-quality jobs in Thun.
