Loacker family and Dr Werner Wolf of Intersnack awarded SG Golden Watch
Since 1972 the prestigious SG Golden Watch has been presented by the international confectionery association Sweets Global Network at a ceremony during the elegant SG New Year Reception in Munich. The Golden Watch is considered one of the major confectionery sector awards.
At this year’s reception, SG Chairman Dr Udo Gyllensvärd extended a warm welcome to almost 600 confectionery industry leaders and decisionmakers from Germany and neighbouring countries. Guests not only enjoyed the elegant gala evening; the informative talks held beforehand were also enthusiastically received.
The highlight of the evening was the Golden Watch award ceremony. This year Armin Loacker together with Christine Loacker-Zuenelli, proprieters of the north Italian wafer company Loacker AG, and Dr Werner Wolf, CEO of Intersnack, were honoured for their achievements.
For over 80 years the name Loacker has been synonymous for fresh, crispy wafers and pastries. The Loacker brand is well-established in 70 countries on five continents. At Loacker, commitment to quality begins with respecting the environment, and is sustained by selecting only the best, natural ingredients and using the latest technology.
The atmosphere within the company is very open; business relations with retail sector clients from all over the world are fair, reliable and often very cordial. As a result of untiring efforts and remarkable personal commitment over the past 20 years, sales director Manfred Kunold has been extremely successful in promoting the brand abroad.
Dr Werner Wolf joined Intersnack from Mars in 1997. He successfully re-structured the group’s concept and brands. Today Intersnack – with the brands funnyfrisch, Chio, Pom Bär and Wolf Bergstrasse – is the salty snacks market leader in Germany and one of the top snack manufacturers in Europe.
For some time Intersnack has been involved in a number of social projects focusing above all on sport, exercise and fitness. Over the past few years the promotion of a more active lifestyle – encouraging children and young adults in particular to get more exercise – has been one of the major priorities within the Intersnack Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
Also presented at the New Year Reception were the three advancement prizes for newcomers, the Sweets Global Talents, jointly awarded by the Dr Hans Riegel foundation and Sweets Global Network, and worth € 10,000 each. This year the prizes went to Katrin Felgenhauer of Storck, Birgit Stadlmair of Haribo Austria and Arne Homborg. Homborg created a website which is an invaluable source of information concerning a lot of various aspects of chocolate (www. theobroma-cacao.de).
