Rosen Eiskrem takes over Nestlé Schöller private label business

With effect from January 1st 2007, ice cream manufacturer Rosen Eiskrem GmbH, Waldfeucht-Haaren, will be taking over both Nestlé Schöller facilities in Nürnberg and Prenzlau where private label production is the focus. The Nestlé Schöller headquarters in Nürnberg as well as the Uelzen facility are not affected by the sale, according to a release. No details of the sum involved were disclosed.

Thanks to the acquisition, the family-owned company will be running production on 30 as opposed to 11 lines. Overall production capacity goes up from 80 m litres of ice cream to 230 m litres; sales will increase from the present € 90 m to € 230 m. Rosen Eiskrem say this makes them Germany s biggest ice cream manufacturers and the biggest proprieter-managed ice cream manufacturer in Europe.
The takeover reflects and takes into account the considerable, consistent growth in the private label sector, explains company owner Dr Gotthard Kirchner. Private label articles currently account for 55% of the German market. Olaf Blank, who recently joined Rosen management, will facilitate the smooth integration of the new facilities.
