Bahlsen plans sale of French subsidiary

Bahlsen GmbH & Co KG, Hanover, has announced the start of talks with French company Biscuiterie de la Baie du Mont Saint Michel Andros SAS concerning the sale of their French subsidiary Bahlsen Saint Michel SAS.
The planned sale involves the St Michel brand range (including Breton Galettes, Sablé de Retz and other specialities), production facilities in St Michel Chef-Chef (260 employees) and Commercy, Lorraine (100 employees) as well as administration headquarters in Paris Rueil-Malmaison (100 employees).
Annual Bahlsen St Michel sales were worth € 115 m in 2005. The company ranks second after Groupe Danone LU on the French dry baked goods market.
