Griesson - de Beukelaer invest further in Kahla factory

Griesson - de Beukelaer GmbH & Co KG (GdB), Polch, has invested € 93 m in constructing a state of the art biscuit factory in Kahla, Thuringia. By 2008 another € 20m will have been invested in extending production capacity, the company told local media. 70 new jobs will be created. „Demand for our products is growing above all in western Europe and overseas,“ said spokesman Peter Gries. Approximately 33,000 tonnes of baked goods were produced in Kahla last year. Volume is to rise up to 40,000 tonnes by 2008.
„This year we’re aiming for growth of between 4% and 5% at all four company facilities,“ explained Gries. „We want to grow faster than the market.“ GdB revenue was up by € 54 m in 2005 to € 397 m. The concern employs 1,800 people, 440 at the Kahla facility alone.
