Grabower undergoes restructuring

Baked goods and mallow wafer company Grabower Süsswaren GmbH is undergoing restructuring. 100% Grabower Süsswaren subsidiaries, Wolf Süsswaren GmbH and Grabower Grundstückgesellschaft mbH are to be united under the umbrella of the Lithardt Holding GmbH. Subsidiaries Ruhrkrone, Tomala and Stüß are to merge.
The company, owned by Otto and Monika Lithardt, is active in the segments mallow wafers, marshmallows, wafers and baked goods, including crispbread. Grabower’s biggest success to date was the launch of their innovative sugarfree chocolate coated marshmallows, which were endorsed by speed skating champion Claudia Pechstein. Organic products and crispbread sales are also growing steadily - to such an extent that owner Otto Lithardt is planning the construction of a new crispbread factory. Managing partner Otto Lithardt is anticipating growth of 20% this year; last year the company achieved double digit growth with sales up to € 125 m. 700 people are currently employed. A total of €5m is to be invested in tangible assets and another € 5m in advertising this year.
Apart from growing domestic sales Grabower are working systematically to increase exports. A license agreement for chocolate marshmallow production in eastern Europe is planned; a marshmallow production plant is to be constructed in California together with a US partner. A holding will be founded in Switzerland which will oversee export activities.
