Dr Quendt Backwaren celebrate 130 years of baking tradition

Dr Quendt Backwaren GmbH, Dresden, marked 15 years in business and celebrated 130 years of Dresden baking tradition with a grand party. Consistent quality and innovative energy have combined to achieve sustainable, solid growth.
In 1876 Viennese pasty cook Wenzel Hromadka and businessman H.Vollmann founded a baked goods company in Dresden which they named the „Original Wiener Waffel-, Hohlhippen-, Bisquit- etc Special Fabrik“. In this company lie the origins of Dr Quendt Backwaren GmbH, founded in 1991. Last year Matthias Quendt (38) took over the company from his father, founder Dr Hartmut Quendt. Dr Quendt ranks as one of the leading manufacturers of „Russian bread“ alphabet biscuits in Germany. The famous Dresden style traditional Stollen Christmas cakes are marketed internationally and dispatched all over the world.
New organic products have generated significant success. A biscuit made without refined sugar or fat is currently being developed; snacks made using the Indian root vegetable topinambur are high in demand.
„We see how consumers are becoming more and more health conscious, so we’ll steer our efforts in that direction,“ said Matthias Quendt.
