Danone sells LU biscuit factory
Groupe Danone has confirmed that it plans to sell its LU biscuit factory near Perigueux, to DPI,a food company owned by Alain Teot. The sale is part of Danone’s efforts to restructure its biscuit activities in France, where it has already closed biscuit sites in Calais and Evry. The site has 230 employees and produces about 7,300 tonnes of biscuits each year. .In the first quarter of 2006, Danone reported consolidated sales of € 3.534 bn compared to €3.075 bn in the first quarter of 2005, an increase of +14.9%. At constant scope of consolidation and exchange rates, sales increased by +9%.Sales of the division Biscuits & Cereal Products were € 597 m, compared to € 565 m in 2005 (+ 3,5%).
