Danone sells LU biscuit factory to DPI

Groupe Danone said it plans to sell its LU biscuit factory near Perigueux, in the Dordogne region of France, to DPI, a food company owned by Alain Teot, confirming a report in French daily Le Figaro today. The sale is part of Danone s efforts to restructure its biscuit activities in France, where it has already closed biscuit sites in Calais and Evry. The site has 230 employees and produces about 7,300 tonnes of biscuits each year.



In the first quarter of 2006, Danone reported consolidated sales of € 3,534 m, an increase of +14.9% on a historical basis. At constant scope of consolidation and exchange rates, sales increased by +9%. Sales by business line Biscuits & Cereal Products were € 597 m (+ 3,5%).
