Groupe Danone expand in North Africa

French food concern Groupe Danone is expanding operations in the Middle East and North Africa. Danone have taken over the Egyptian dairy product manufacturers Olait and launched a joint venture with the Tunisian company Sotubi tasked with building a biscuit factory in Algeria. Groupe Danone has increased its holding in Sotubi from 20% up to 49%. Sotubi is the leading biscuit manufacturer in Tunisia, where they command a market share of 60%.
