Katjes Fassin to build candy factory

The German family-owned company Katjes Fassin, Emmerich, has announced details of a major new production facility in Potsdam. The hard candy factory will cost €12m and will create around 100 industry jobs in the region. In past years, Katjes Fassin has acquired many candy brands, for example Villosa, Hustelinchen, Gletscher Eis or granini fruit candies. Today, the big part of the products are manufactured abroad. Production will start by September 2006. Katjes investment should also aid the company, which currently employs 520 people, to improve on the €180m revenue that it was reported to have achieved in 2004.
