Monkhill Confectionery factory damaged by fire

According a report of the Reuters news agency, the Pontefract-based Monkhill Confectionery factory, owned by Cadbury Schweppes’s Trebor Basset has been devastated by fire. More than 70 firefighters tackled the fire, the agency said, citing a fire brigade spokesman. No one was injured.
“The building is almost completely destroyed,” a spokesman for the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said. “We are investigating the cause.” The Monkhill Confectionery factory is part of Trebor Bassett and makes Butterkist brand popcorn as well as a range of other confectionery products.
