Sales of Transfair products strong

The sales volume of Transfair products in German retail rocketed by 33 % up to 6,500 tonnes in 2004.“Grower associations in Africa, Asia and Latin America have received fair trade premiums worth € 1.2 m thanks to the decision of consumers to buy fair trade products,”said Transfair chairman Norbert Dreßen. Transfair chocolate sales amounted to 417 tonnes, growth of 44 %;sales volume of sweets rose 4 % to 21.5 tonnes.
