Wrigley is building for the future

The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. has made big bets on infrastructure in recent years -- bets now paying off with the opening of three new facilities. In October 2004, the world s largest chewing gum maker opened a 50,000-square-foot gum base factory in Shanghai, China. In May, the company will start production at a 100,000-square-foot factory in Silao, Mexico, which will make stick and pellet chewing gum, as well as bubble gum.
This summer, Wrigley will open its global innovation center, a 200,000-square-foot office and laboratory complex on Chicago s Goose Island. The center will house the company s research and development, packaging, engineering, regulatory and quality-control departments.
