Mederer:18 % sales growth
Mederer Süsswarenvertrieb GmbH, report significant growth of 18 % for the business year 2004, with sales of just below €230 m.Domestic market sales growth was particularly high at 20 %, while the private label business grew by 13 %. Trolli is reported to rank second on the German fruit gum market,just behind Haribo (source: IRI Scanner) 45 % of Mederer’s revenue was generated abroad (+ 17 %). The facility in China is a key success factor. Confectionery manufactured here is mostly dispatched to the US market. Annual production capacity is currently 8,000 tonnes. According to chief executive Herbert Mederer the company’s innovative strategy is decisive in driving growth. At the ISM 2005 Mederer will present a range of new products, including low calorie articles to be marketed under the Sara Lee brand umbrella “natreen”. The company also announced they would be entering the licorice segment.
