Fat free fruit gums targeted by consumer protection agencies

Consumer protection agencies have instituted proceedings at Cleves district court against Katjes Fassin for making “misleading”claims in advertising. Katjes Yogurt Gums are labelled fat free, which the German consumer agencies say is misleading. The gums in fact contain 0.4 % fat and 75 % sugar, and therefore could contribute towards obesity. By labelling fat free Katjes could mislead health conscious consumers to believe that the gums were a low calorie treat. Katjes has asked for the case to be dismissed.
