WAWI focuses on business abroad

Looking ahead,WAWI Schokolade AG,Münchsweiler sees increasing chances for further success on markets abroad.At the presentation of their results for the 2003/04 business year (ending 30.4) the company announced that in the coming year investments would mostly focus on operations and factories abroad, and be financed exclusively from the company cash flow. Last business year WAWI’s worldwide production of chocolate amounted to 24,000 tonnes,an increase of 4 %.Total sales grew 1 %, up to € 79m. The number of employees remained unchanged at 500. Growth in Australia over 20 % WAWI subsidiaries abroad continue to report growth. In Russia WAWI now manufacture block chocolate as well as hollow chocolate figures and surprise eggs.WAWI also process and manufacture their own cocoa mass and chocolate. In Australia growth was over 20 %.Within the short space of six years WAWI has built up widespread market presence and their products are on sale in almost every outlet “down under”. In Canada growth was in the double digit region. This year foil-wrapped figures are to be launched on the Canadian market, joining advent calendars and cellophane-wrapped hollow chocolate figures already on sale. The factory in China celebrates ten years in business this year. Production has risen every year and now totals 1,000 tonnes.
