Analysts expect sale of LifeSavers

The announcement of Kraft Foods Inc CEO Roger Deromedi that the concern would be transforming their portfolio in order to concentrate on core brands has attracted the close attention of analysts in the USA.A Kraft spokeswoman has meanwhile confirmed that the concern plans to sell its Breyers Yogurt brand. Analysts expect further divestiture to follow. A related article in The Chicago Sun- Times identified Planters Nuts, Milk Bone dog biscuits and the sugar confectionery division - including the LifeSavers brand – as likely to come up for sale. LifeSavers came into the possession of Kraft Foods following the latter’s acquisition of Nabisco. However since then there has been little marketing activity to stimulate sales of the brand .Another major US sugar confectionery company is said to be showing great interest in the Kraft Foods confectionery division, say analysts.
